Gado Gado (Indonesian Salad)

Gado Gado is a popular Indonesian dish which tastes yum!  Try it this weekend.

Gado Gado (Indonesian Salad) - Serves 4

Ingredients -

  • Potatoes (boiled and diced) - 200 g
  • French beans (boiled and diced) - 200 g
  • Carrots (boiled and diced) - 100 g
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 200 g
  • Bean sprouts (washed and drained) - 200 g
  • Boiled jack fruit pieces (when in season) - 100 g
  • Boiled egg (peeled and sliced) - optional - 2 nos

For the Spicy Peanut Dressing -

  • Roasted peanuts - 200 g
  • Jaggery - 15 g
  • Tamarind juice - 15 ml
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 100 ml

Method of preparation - Mix all the dressing ingredients in a blender.  Put all the salad ingredients together in a bowl.  Add the dressing and mix well.  The vegetables should be well coated with the sauce.  Serve chilled.  If you wish you may add lettuce leaves for decoration.
