Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is a condition which is caused by excess deposition of fat in the liver. As the name suggests it is not related to alcohol consumption and may develop in a person who drinks little or don’t drink at all.  It can occur at any age but usually seen between the age of 40- 50, especially in the people who are obese and diabetic.
Risk factor
- Obesity
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- High level of triglycerides
- Hyperglycemia
- Metabolic disorder
- Hyper and hypothyroidism
Symptoms
Usually nonalcoholic fatty liver causes no symptoms in the early stage but sometimes these symptoms may appear-
- Fatigue
- Weakness
- Pain upper right side of the abdomen
- Swelling over legs, feet, ankles, and abdomen
In case if the nonalcoholic fatty liver disease progresses to cirrhosis can lead to these symptoms-
- Fluid retention
- Internal bleeding
- Mental confusion
- Jaundice
- Itchy skin
Prevention
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Stay active and do some exercise and yoga
- Eat a healthy diet
- Control of diabetes
- Avoid smoking
