Muscle Twitching - A Bad Omen Or A Nutrient Deficiency Or Something Else?

Twitching of eyes is considered as a bad omen by many of us. It is a bad sign, but in a different context. There are many medical reasons for muscle twitching. Here are a few pathological causes...

It can be caused due to caffeine consumption, exercising, anxiety/stress; it can also be a side effect of certain medications. Deficiency of certain nutrients like magnesium, iron and vitamin D also can cause muscle twitching. Most of these factors are controllable factors. Avoid excess caffeine intake, try to stay calm under stressful situations, ask your Physician about the medications prescribed if you experience twitching.

To avoid nutrient deficiencies make sure to have a variety of whole cereals, dals, vegetables (especially green leafy vegetables), fruits, soya products, go for nuts like almonds, walnuts, raisins; have low fat milk and its products daily.

More severe causes include stroke, brain tumour, trauma to face or neck or brain, weak muscles, Parkinson's disease and many more.
Next time you experience muscle twitching, don't take it superstitiously; instead be careful about your health!
