This self-check is designed to help you gently understand where you are in your recovery journey, without labels, judgment, or pressure. It isn’t a diagnostic tool, and it won’t tell you whether you’re “doing recovery right.” Instead, it simply offers a mirror: a way to notice whether you’re mostly in survival mode (just trying to cope and get through each day) or gradually stepping into a healing state (regaining balance, clarity, and emotional space). Before you begin, bring to mind a recent stressful or challenging experience, something that impacted you emotionally, mentally, or physically. It could be personal, work-related, health-related, or something that simply stayed with you longer than expected. There’s no need to overthink it; just choose the moment that naturally comes to mind. As you move through the statements, rate how true each one feels for you right now, not how you think you “should” feel. Some statements may reflect struggle, others may reflect growth; both are completely normal parts of the recovery process. Your responses will help you see patterns, understand your emotional position, and identify whether your current phase leans more toward coping, stabilizing, or rebuilding. Take your time, breathe through the process, and remember: awareness is the first step toward meaningful healing.
