Itchy Scalp - Are You Carrying Lice?

Head lice are tiny insects that live among human hair and suck small amounts of blood from the scalp causing itchiness.

Head lice problem is most common in young children, although adults can also get lice.  If your or your child's scalp is itchy, check for head lice.

Lice are highly contagious and can spread easily from one 'head' to another through contact, sharing of bed linen, combs, jackets or hats.

Although medicated lotion / shampoo helps to get rid of lice, it's always safer to consult your physician.  Additionally, wash the bed linen and the affected person's clothes in hot water; clean combs, hair brushes, etc with soap and hot water.

To prevent lice, avoid close contact with others who carry lice, do not share combs, scarves or hats, and keep your scalp and combs clean.
