Palak Dhokla

Make your traditional Gujrati dhokla healthier by adding palak and methi to it. Palak and methi enriches the recipe with Vitamin A and Iron and aids in healthy vision and blood formation. This quick and easy to make recipe can be enjoyed at breakfast and as a snack.

Preperation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients:
Split cow peas or Chola dal (Soaked overnight) - ½ cup
Spinach Chopped- ½ cup
Methi chopped- ½ cup
Finely Chopped Carrot- ¼ cup
Ginger green chili paste- 2 tsp
Hing- ¼ tsp
Fruit Salt- 1 tsp
Oil for greasing
Salt to taste
For Garnishing:
Oil- 1 tsp
Mustard seeds- ½ tsp
Til - ½ tsp
Curry leaves and Coriander

Method:
• Wash, drain and blenderize the soaked dal
• Grind the methi , palak and ginger green chili paste together
• Mix the dal and puree together
• Boil water in a steamer
• Add hing, salt and chopped carrot and mix well
• Grease a 6" diameter and 150 mm, thali with a little oil
• Add the fruit salt and mix gently
• Pour the batter into a greased thali
• Place the thali on the steamer and steam for 8- 10 minutes
• Check if it's done with a knife or skewer, it should come out clean
• Now heat oil, splutter mustard seeds , til and curry leaves
• Pour it over the dhoklas
• Garnish with coriander and serve hot with pudina chutney
