Structure and function of heart

The heart is a muscular organ about the size of a fist and it is located in the thoracic cavity. The heart consists of four chamber right and left atria above and right and left ventricles. It has three layers of tissue, epicardium, myocardium, and endocardium and also has four valves which separate its chamber.

Function of heart

The human heart is an organ that pumps blood throughout the body via the circulatory system, supplying oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removing carbon dioxide and other wastes. As a central part of the circulatory system, the heart is primarily responsible for pumping blood and distributing oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.
