The physical repercussions of stress

Modern life is filled with deadlines, frustration, and demands all of which result in lack of sleep, good diet, and exercise. Unfortunately stress itself is the side effect of many other issues. And stress over a long period is no good. Here are some of the physical effects of stress:

  1. Stress impacts libido by interfering with hormones responsible for sexual response. Research claims that having sex at least 3 to 4 days a week is considered healthy. This issue can be sorted with stress management techniques, breathing exercises, and meditation.
  2. Chronic stress can impact the hormones released by the thyroid glands. These hormones regulate metabolism among other things and disturb the functioning of the digestive system. This may lead to acidity, constipation, and even irritable bowel syndrome. To combat this, you can try drinking a lot of water through the day and also exercising for 3 to 4 days a week to avoid digestive problems.
  3. Weight gain is common when you are constantly stressed. You would pay less attention to your diet and exercise during stressful periods and this eventually would lead to weight gain.
  4. Your overall health goes for a spin. Stress causes back pain, dark circles, black spots, hair loss, and skin pigmentation.

It is important to pay attention to your mind and body irrespective how much stress you may be going through. Take action immediately and start working on stress management techniques before losing the battle to stress.
