The abdominal muscles are a group of 6 muscles that extend from various places on the ribs to various places on the pelvis. They provide movement and support to the trunk, often called the core. They also assist in the breathing process. Abdominal muscles are special because they provide postural support.

Myth: Abs need to be trained more than any other muscles.

Fact: No, abs need no more or less training than any other muscles. Again the ideal amount of work can vary based on your own individual recovery ability.

Myth: In order to get toned abs you need to train with ultra high reps.

Fact: While there is some truth to that, keep your reps a little higher, somewhere in the 15-20 rep range.

Myth: In order to get toned abs you have to do endless amounts of sets.

Fact: Just like with any other muscle, ONE set per exercise is sufficient enough to stimulate growth!

Myth: Abs training will get rid of your love handles and abdominal fat.

Fact: Abs training is the worst thing to do to get rid of love handles and abdominal fat. If you want to get rid of fat use your large muscles such as legs and back and reduce your overall calorie intake.
